  I think it's a combination of the six-man rotation and the Dodgers being super cautious with their pitching staff during the regular season to try to keep arms fresh for the postseason. So while I can see him reaching the 130 innings he pitched in 2021 and 2023, I doubt if he'll reach the 165 innings he pitched in 2022. And those restrictions can also prevent him from having spectacular complete game outings (shutouts or a no hitter) that earn attention and votes.

  大谷は去年のイニング数こそ少なかったけど、中身は規格外だった。規定到達には程遠かったとはいえ、先発投手のxERA・FIP・K/9でメジャートップ。しかも通算K/9はMLB史上1位だぞ。大谷は本気を出せば期待をぶっ飛ばしてくるのを何度も見せてきた。通算で135イニング超えが1回しかないからサイ・ヤングは確かに難題だけど、獲っても俺は驚かないね

  Ohtani pitched very few innings last season, but they were spectacular. Though he was far from qualifying, he led the majors among starting pitching in xERA, FIP, and strikeouts per 9 innings. He also has the highest career strikeout per 9 inning rate in MLB history. Ohtani has shown that when he sets his mind on things, he can blow away expectations. Cy Young would be a challenge for him, as he's only pitched over 135 innings once in his career, but, no, it wouldn't shock me if he got it.

  同意、見たいのは山々だけど無理。ライバルは“投げることだけ”を考えてればいい投手たちで、攻撃の間も休めるし登板間も回復に充てられる。それに彼の最大のチャンスは、ポール・スキーンズと戦わずに済んだ2021〜2023年だったんだよ

  Agreed, would love to see it, but there's no chance. His competition will be pitchers who only have time to think about pitching, who can rest between half innings and rest/recover between starts. Also, his best chance to win it was back in 2021-2023 when he didn't have to go up against Paul Skenes.
