  あれは『警告』じゃない。ただの『予知』だよ。イチローは大谷の中に何かを見抜いて、それが当たった。大谷は息をするのと同じくらい野球を愛してる。たいていの選手は大金のために野球をやってるけど、大谷は住む場所と家族の飯さえあればタダでもプレーするタイプ。それくらい野球が好きなんだ。

  It wasn't a warning. It was just foresight. He saw something in Ohtani and he was right. Ohtani loves the game as much as you love breathing. He is like many of the players of the LA team. He loves the game and you see it by how he plays. Most players trained to become players to earn big bucks. Ohtani would play this game for free if you housed him, his family and fed them. That's how much he loves the game.

  CC Sabathia saw Shohei for one inning in Japan and immediately said that he would be the greatest player ever. That sounds fake, but I've seen OTHER players who confirmed that Sabathia told them this very early in Shohei's career. That's foresight!

  俺は大谷がまだ高校生の頃、甲子園でプレーしてるのを見て『こいつは化け物になる』って分かった。イチローも『日本に要注目の若手がいる』って言ってたしな。

  I watched Shohei Ohtani when he was still in high school and when he played at the High school Koshien tournament I knew then he was gonna be a beast Ichiro even said their was an up & coming player in Japan to watch out for.

  Plenty of people in Japan predicted that he was destined for greatness when he signed his first pro contract. He has "the glow" of someone special, and just like Ichiro, you could see his utter confidence and intense focus even when he was pitching at the High School Championships in Koshien. Speaking of which, you can tell what he is focused on, this year. The giveaway is him agreeing not to bat on days when he pitches. Shohei is a guy who sets a goal and then focuses all his effort on achieving it. The only reason he would agree to bat less often is so he can focus on perfect pitching. Because he wants to win the Cy Young Award, and thereby achieve a feat nobody else will ever match: Winning every major award baseball has to offer.

  My dad and I are sitting here laughing while watching this. My dads like, "the sum beach is a pitcher that's a DH also... I never thought I'd see the day I'd be scared to see a pitcher up at bat."

  5年で3度目の優勝をした2014年ジャイアンツのマディソン・バムガーナーもそうだろ。マッドバムは打席でも怪物だった！大谷より上とは言わないけど、打席で恐れられた投手ではあった。当時はLA（ドジャース）にもザック・グリンキーっていう打てる投手がいたしな。

  Madison Bumgarner on the SF Giants in 2014 when they won their 3rd title in 5 years. MadBum was a BEAST! Not saying he was better than Ohtani but he was a feared pitcher at the plate as well. LA had a badass pitcher at the plate at the time Zack Greinke.

  『ドジャースが大谷を甘やかしてる』って声を思い出してくれ。あいつは2度目の大きな肘の手術明けを、メジャーリーガー相手にリハビリしてたんだぞ。誰もやったことがない。普通ならマイナーでやるし、復帰1年目の投手に大した期待はしない。なのに大谷はシーズンを22イニング連続無失点で終え、今年はそれを35まで伸ばした（メッツに1点取られるまで）。一時は投手として33イニング連続無失点、打者として48試合連続出塁を同時にやってのけた。これもまた前人未到で、今後も二度と再現されないだろうね。

  You have to remember "The Dodgers babying Ohtani".....The dude was rehabbing from his second major elbow surgery versus MAJOR LEAGUERS, something else nobody has ever done before, so they took it slow with him. The way they rehabbed him is how you would rehab human pitchers following TJ surgery, except it would've been done in the minors, and the big club would've expected nothing from that pitcher their first yr back. Yet Shohei ended the season on a 22 inning scoreless streak, and got it to 35 this year, before the Mets scored one punt run against him. Oh, he also has a 48 game on base streak. So at one time, he had a 33 inning scoreless streak as a pitcher, and a 48 game on base streak as a batter. Yet another thing that's never been done, and probably will never be duplicated.

  Strange storyline this. It was obvious when Ohtani was playing for the Halos that he was the best player ever, why else would the Dodgers pay him 700 million dollars?

  ドジャースが選手を買い漁ってるって怒ってる人がいるけど、俺が腹立つのは『なんでエンゼルスは買い漁らなかったのか』だよ。大谷とトラウトを抱えてたのに、それで満足しちゃった。バリー・サンダースを思い出す。ライオンズは彼の凄さを知った途端、上積みもせず『バリー・サンダース・ショー』として店じまいしたんだ。

  People are upset that the Dodgers are buying everyone up. What I'm upset about is why the Angels didn't buy everyone up, Angels had Ohtani and Trout and just left it at that. Remind me of Barry Sanders, the moment the Lions knew what he was capable of, they sat back and sold the team off as the Barry Sanders Show.

  2020年に大谷を知るまで、俺は10年以上野球から離れてた。オクラホマ在住だから、彼がレンジャーズかロイヤルズと対戦するときは毎年ロードトリップで観に行ってる。

  I had been out on baseball for over ten years until I heard of Ohtani in 2020. I live in Oklahoma so if he plays the Rangers or Royals I make the road trip every year.

  I understood in 2022. Went to many Angels game that year and 2023...had been watching him with the Angels since 2018, when my Japanese girlfriend told me, "watch this guy. Everyone in Japan knows him." By 2022 I realized he is a walking legend. Living history that needs to be seen live on the field playing ball. So no, there are some of us who knew years ago. When he signed with the Dodgers I thought, "He's finally going to the World Series." Again, there are some of us who knew.

  I think the best thing about Ohtani is not just that he is epically talented. It's also his sportsmanship, and how it seems like he is always having fun. I hope he has a long successful career. Its great for the sport.

  Just seeing how he carries himself is the most impressive to me. The fame hasn't changed him. The Sportsmanship is amazing. Just as impressive as his performance.
