  8:42 のスモルツの一言が全てだ。体をケアして、ちゃんと食べて、必要な休息を取って、睡眠リズムを整えれば、大谷はあと何年もこれを続けられるってさ。

  He said it best at 8:42 if you take care of your body, you eat right, get the rest you need and good sleep schedule, He'll be doing it for several years more.

  多くの人が認めたがらないことを、殿堂入り選手がちゃんと認めてる。俺は8月で65になるが、10年前に「大谷みたいなことをやる選手が出る」と言われたら「お前は病院行け」と返してたよ。それくらいありえなかった。大谷は二度と現れない選手だ。MVPを4回、しかも3年連続で獲った男のサイ・ヤング賞を今こうして語ってる。もうテレビゲームの世界だろ。頼むから、あいつが投げる試合も出る試合も一試合も見逃すな。こんな選手はもう二度と見られない。座って楽しめ。いつか孫に「俺はリアルタイムで見たんだ」と語ることになるぞ。

  俺は72歳の大の野球ファンだ。大谷翔平は、これまで見た中でも聞いた中でも史上最高の野球選手だよ。これからは『ルース級（Ruthian）』って言葉が『オオタニ級（Ohtanilike）』に置き換わる。あのNLCS第4戦、10奪三振に3本塁打……人間にできることだと思ってなかった……いや、できないんだ……あれは『オオタニ級』なんだ。

  I'm 72 and a huge baseball fan. Shohei Ohtani is the greatest baseball player I have ever seen or heard about. The term Ruthian will get replaced by Ohtanilike.   サンチェス、ミズ（ミシオロウスキー）、大谷、みんな素晴らしい年だ。誰が獲っても文句はない。ただ、ERA記録を破ったら大谷が獲るべきってのは同意。『イニング数が足りない』って論調が大嫌いなんだよ。それを言うなら、もう二度とリリーフ投手に獲らせるなって話だ。

  Sanchez, the Miz, and Shohei are all having wonderful year. I wouldn’t be mad if either one win. But I do agree, if he breaks the era record, he should win the CY. I hate the narrative of innings pitch. If that’s the case, I never want to see another reliever win this award.

  大谷は162イニング以上投げれば、サイ・ヤング賞を獲るべきだ。今年は結局そこが獲れるかどうかの唯一の分かれ目になる。

  Ohtani should be getting the Cy Young IF he throws 162 inngins or more. That will be the only aspect for him to make it or not this year.

  大谷は他の投手と比べて圧倒的に不利だ。他の連中は5〜6日に1回投げて、その間は休む。大谷はほぼ毎日試合に出るから、体力もスタミナも削られていく。投打どっちも高いレベルでこなせるとはいえ、持ってる体力とスタミナは結局一人分しかないんだ。

  Ohtani is at a huge disadvantage compared to his pitching peers. The other pitchers pitch once every 5 or 6 days. In between they rest. Ohtani plays almost every day so it's going to sap his energy and stamina. (...) He may be able to pitch and hit at a high level but he only has the energy and stamina of 1 person.

  大谷がサイ・ヤング賞を獲って30本塁打以上打ったら、どうやってMVPを逃すんだ？ サイ・ヤング賞級の投球ができるのは間違いない。ただ、ライバルの顔ぶれと少ないイニング数を考えると、それでも足りないかもしれない。

  If Shohei wins the Cy Young and hits 30+ homeruns how can he not win MVP? There's no question he can pitch well enough to win the Cy Young but against the competition he has and his limited innings it may not be enough.

  MVPを獲るのにサイ・ヤング賞は要らないだろ。OPS .900に防御率1点未満だぞ。史上最高のシーズンと言ってもいいくらいだ。防御率3点未満・OPS .800でもMVPは獲れてる。

  He doesn’t need to win cy young to win mvp, he has 900ops and a sub 1era. That’s arguably the best baseball season of all time. He would win MVP with a sub 3 era and an 800ops.

  大谷はサイ・ヤング賞とMVPの二冠を獲れるし、獲るさ！ ダメな理由がどこにある？ カーショーは数十本塁打も100打点も550打席もなしで（投手として）MVPを獲ったんだぞ！ そもそもMVPは打者だけの賞じゃない（打者用ならハンク・アーロン賞とシルバースラッガーの2つがある！）。

  Ohtani will and can win BOTH CyYoung and MVP!! Why not?! Clayton Kershaw won it without having couple of dozen HR, 100RBI and 550+ plate appearances! (...) MVP is NOT a hitters only award (there are TWO, Hank Aaron award and Silver slugger award!)

  今の時点でサイ・ヤング賞のトップ3を正直に挙げるなら、①クリストファー・サンチェス ②ジェイコブ・ミシオロウスキー ③大谷翔平、だな。3人とも僅差で、ここからどう転んでも誰が獲ってもおかしくない。俺はドジャースファンで大谷に獲ってほしい。でもこれは客観的な意見だ。これはMVPみたいな総合価値の賞じゃない、あくまで投手としての貢献の話だ。だから大谷の打撃は持ち出せない。サイ・ヤング賞の評価には関係ないからな。

  If I had to name a top 3 in the Cy Young race at this point of the season (...) 1) Cristopher Sanchez 2) Jacob Misiorowski 3) Shohei Ohtani (...) I’m a Dodger fan and I’m rooting for Ohtani to win it but, again, this is just my objective opinion. (...) This is not a total value award like the MVP, we are talking about pitching contributions! So we cannot mention what Ohtani does at the plate because that is not a factor in the race for the Cy Young!

  Shohei Ohtani , Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Roki Sasaki will be the Japanese version of former Braves’ great pitchers Maddux, Glavine and Smoltz for the Dodgers.

  そのスモルツ、昔は「大谷は打撃をやめるべき」とも言ってたんだぜ。で、大谷はその後5年間、球界2位の打者になった。だからみんな“あいつはおかしい”って言うんだよ。

  Smoltz also said Ohtani should give up hitting. Then he went out and was the 2nd best hitter in baseball for 5 years. That's why people say he's crazy.
