  大谷の強みは投手と打者の二人分ってこと。トミー・ジョン手術のときも、術後は打者だけでプレーして50-50を達成した。今回も投げるのを休めばいいだけ…でもLAの地元メディアによると、腫れた膝の水も抜いたらしい。だとしたら完全休養が必要かもな。

  Great thing about Ohtani is that he is two players a pitcher and a hitter. When he had Tommy John he still played after the surgery but only as a hitter and got 50/50 hits steals. He just needs rest from pitching. BUT I also just read from the local media here in la that he also had fluid drained from a swollen knee…so maybe he needs full rest

  休養は必要、それは間違いない。でもこの見方は行き過ぎだよ。ドジャースはめちゃくちゃ慎重にやってるし、欲張りなのは大谷本人だろ。マメと膝のことを思えば昨日の登板は確かに失敗だった。まるまる2週間、できればもう1〜2週間休ませて、プレーオフ前に整えてほしい。

  He needs rest. No doubt. But this take is too far. Dodgers have been extremely careful, and it's clear Shohei wants it all. Yesterdays start was a mistake for sure though knowing the blister issue + the knee. Give him a full 2 weeks or more and then another 1-2 weeks if we can before the playoffs begin

  ドジャースファンとして、今は大谷に休んでほしい。無理に出し続けたり、本人がサイ・ヤング欲しさに休養より出場を選んだりしたら、絶対ケガして残りシーズンか数ヶ月離脱する。そんなのは見たくない。

  As a dodger fan, I would prefer right now for Shohei Ohtani to rest. Because if they keep forcing him to play or him choosing to play over rest to get a Cy he's going to get injured and he's going to be out for the rest of the season or for a couple months and I don't want that

  問題は、ロバーツがそれを管理できるほど賢くないってこと。負担をもっとうまく調整できる場面が何度もあったのに、あいつは余分な休養を与えたがらないタイプの監督なんだよ。

  The thing is that Roberts is too dmb to manage that. Multiple times they had an option to manage work load better. But Roberts is that kind of manager that doesnt like to give extra rest

  大谷を語るなら、グラウンド上の成績だけじゃなく、グラウンド外も見ないと。彼ひとりでドジャースに収益と利益の大半をもたらしてる。オーナーからロバーツまで、ケガのリスクを最小にして最高のパフォーマンスを出せる環境を作ることが何より重要なんだ。

  When you think about Ohtani, we need to focus not only baseball performance on the field but off the field as well. He, single handedly, is bringing the lion shares of revenues and profits to Dodgers. It's utmost importance that Dodgers from the ownership to Dave Roberts create the environment in which he can perform the best with minimum risk of injury.

  俺はフロリダで投手として大学野球をやれて幸運だった。大学レベルになると投げるか打つかどっちかで、両方はやらせてもらえないんだ。大谷ほどとは言わないけど、これから二刀流に挑む選手はもっと増えると思う。本当はあれくらいできた逸材だっていたはずだよ。とにかく大学に入ると二刀流はものすごく敬遠されるんだ。

  I was fortunate to play college baseball in Fla as a pitcher. […] once you get to college you either pitch or hit they really don't let you do both because just the number of players you have on your team you don't need to do both! I really think we could see more guys doing this and again I'm not saying like Ohtani but I'm sure there are some guys that may have been just as great!!   みんな大谷をベーブ・ルースと比べるけど、いつも見落とされてるのは、ルースが『デッドボール時代』を終わらせて、長打が重視される時代へ野球を導いたってこと。だから大谷も同じようなインパクトを残すのか気になるんだ。もしそうなら、それは二刀流の選手をもっと増やす形で表れる気がする。『どっちか一つしかできない』っていう監督やGMの思い込みが緩むか、選手のほうから『投げて打ちたい』と主張するようになるかでね。

  People keep comparing Shohei with Babe Ruth, but one thing that always seems to get missed is that Ruth led baseball out of the Dead Ball Era into a time when power hitting was much more important. So I often wonder if Shohei will have a similar impact on baseball? If so, I think it will be in encouraging more two-way players, whether because managers and GMs loosen up believing that you can only do one or the other, or because more players assert themselves in wanting to both pitch and hit.

  覚えてるよ、エンゼルス最後の年、大谷がダブルヘッダー第1試合（デーゲーム）で1安打完封して、第2試合（ナイター）でホームラン2本打ったやつ。化け物だよ。

  I remember in his last year on the Angels Ohtani pitched a 1 hit complete game shutout in game 1 of a doubleheader (afternoon game) then hit 2 bombs in the night game.
