  Hollywood could not have made this a more epic ending, full count down to the wire, not for the city they play for but the land that birthed them. Who would have thought this event would end with the 2 greatest in the game today, you could even say to ever play the game. This is why we love baseball, it's why we love sports.

  確かに映画みたいな素晴らしい脚本だけど、「この勝利投手がのちにMLBの本塁打王になってMVPも取る」なんて脚本を書いたら非現実的すぎて没にされるわ。

  It's certainly a great script, like a movie, but it would be too unrealistic to write a script in which this winning pitcher goes on to become the home run king in MLB and win the MVP award.

  この場面を何十回も見たけど、毎回涙が出る。日本にとっては最高の瞬間、アメリカにとっては悔しい瞬間だっただろう。前置きすると、俺は日本のインターナショナルスクールで育って、日本野球もメジャーも見てきた。日本人選手がどれだけMLBの選手を尊敬し、憧れているか知ってる。だからこれは、ついに「あの場所にたどり着いた」瞬間なんだ。試合前、翔平は選手にこう言った——「みんな、今日がその日だ。アメリカの選手への憧れは一旦捨てよう。君らがメジャーリーガーに畏敬の念を抱いてるのは知ってる。でも今日だけは違う。さあ、倒しに行こう！」

  I’ve watched this scene a dozen times and each time tears flow. Must have been an amazing moment for Japan. Must have been a frustrating moment for USA. Disclaimer: I grew up in Japan in an international school watching both Japanese and Major League Baseball. I know how much Japanese players respect and look up to MLB players and that’s why this is like the moment of finally “getting there”. Before this game Shohei told his players: “Guys, this is it. Leave aside any admiration for the USA players. I know you guys are in awe of MLB players but not today. Let’s go get em!”

  I had the same reaction. It's just beautiful how baseball, which originated in the USA, is now enjoyed by so many different people across the world. It's almost like a symbolic torch passing that the US isn't the only dominant baseballing powerhouse, and as a USA citizen myself, I wouldn't have it any other way. As the commentator said that night, "Tonight, baseball wins."

  Worse than that. They couldn't even manage a winning record. The Angels are almost criminally mismanaged. With the numbers Trout and Ohtani put up during those years, if the rest of the team had just been decent, they'd easily have been World Series contenders.

  I love how passionate Shohei is. Baseball is often a more nonchalant and stoic sport. But he gets excited for his wins and shows emotion. That's how it should be in my opinion!

  俺はあの場にいた、本塁の30列くらい後ろの席で。MLBの試合は山ほど見てきたけど、あの夜の空気感に比べられるものは何もない。しかもラテン系の国の試合ですらないのに。あの打席を生で見たのは伝説級だった。

  I was there sitting about 30 rows behind home plate. I’ve been to a ton of mlb games. And nothing compares to that atmosphere that night and it wasn’t even the Latin countries. That at bat live was epic.

  He's like a right-handed Randy Johnson. 100 mph gas and a completely psychotic slider. Oh, and then you put a bat in his hands and he hits 50+ home runs and steals more bases than Ichiro. I've called him "once in a generation" baseball talent but I think he might be once in a lifetime.
